This 5 hour introductory online self-paced course will increase the competency and confidence of interpreters and translators in communicating with clients in aspects of reproductive and sexual health. 

CPD information

This course is aligned to receiving 20 PD points according to Section 1.3 and 1.5: NAATI Recertification Professional Development Catalogue, Version 1.2.

Learning outcomes

  • Facilitate culturally responsive communication between clients and clinicians during sexual and reproductive health consultations

  • Identify different types of contraceptives 

  • Understand unintended pregnancy options 

  • Know what happens during a sexual health check

  • Be aware of different types of sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

  • Have a basic understanding of reproductive and sexual health services.

Who should register?

Interpreters and/or translators working in clinical, health education, or health promotion settings. Whilst this is an introductory course, all levels are welcome.

2. Reproductive systems, Contraception and Unintended Pregnancy

3. Sexual Health Checks and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
